    Did Mickey Haller kill anyone?

    Spoiler alert: Below are details about The Lincoln Lawyer season 3, now streaming on Netflix. Be careful if you haven’t seen it and don’t want to know.

    The last time we saw Mickey Haller, he was on his way to the morgue in his Lincoln convertible. This time the body was closer than he thought.

    Season 3 of “The Lincoln Lawyer” begins after Mickey (Manuel García-Rulfo) receives a call from a new client who is being held on murder charges for the death of Gloria Dayton, aka Gloria Days (Fiona Rene), a former The Customer became close friends with Mickey. Now we see Mickey’s mission to defend an innocent man and avenge Days’ death, all while exposing a corrupt justice system.

    “The stakes are much higher this season as Mickey tries to get to the bottom of the death of someone he truly cares about, which is a marked change from previous seasons,” said showrunner Ted Humphrey (“The Triangle”, “Thick As Thieves”). ) tells USA TODAY. “You start to understand, and Mickey starts to realize, did he have something to do with it?     The stakes aren’t much higher than in Episode 10, when Mickey’s future as a lawyer is tested when the police find an unusual companion in his Lincoln. “It’s certainly the biggest thing we’ve done so far because what could be bigger than someone you care about being murdered and you feeling like you’re responsible for it in some way and that you’re the one “Have to get to the bottom of the matter?” How do you top that?     Julian La Cosse, who worked with Gloria Days and other sex workers, maintained throughout season three that he had nothing to do with her death. After much research and several dangerous and life-threatening encounters with a new major villain introduced this season – the Mexican Cartel – Mickey and his team prove that their actual killer was a corrupt Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) agent named James De Marco ( Michael Irby).

    In exchange with his private detective Neil Bishop (Holt McCallany), De Marco finds out Glorida’s address and sets her house on fire shortly after Julian leaves.

    But what was De Marco’s motive? He worked with the Juárez cartel to cover up their mess, and after he busted Gloria for prostitution and drug possession, he kept it from her. When one of Gloria’s clients happens to be rival Tijuana cartel boss Hector Moya (Arturo Del Puerto), De Marco uses the dirt he has on Gloria to force her to plan a gun against Moya – who is sentenced to life after the gun is sent to prison. It turned out to be a triple murder.

    What book is “Lincoln Lawyer” season 3 based on?

    Season 3 is based on Michael Connelly’s The Gods of Guilt, the fifth book in the Lincoln Lawyer series.

    “In Mickey’s world, the term ‘Guilt Gods’ is a term we’ve used before and generally refers to the jury,” Humphrey explains. “But specifically in this story, Mickey begins to realize that his own personal gods of guilt go beyond one particular case. It’s not a jury, it’s all the people in your life who matter and who you do things for.”

    Mickey Haller can’t help it – a new love interest is introduced

    Instead of sleeping with customers, Mickey now sleeps with colleagues.

    “When it comes to romance and love, he is the worst. Instead of getting a waitress or a doctor, he gets a lawyer,” García-Rulfo says of Mickey’s love interest this season, his court opponent Andrea Freeman (Yaya DaCosta). . “Not to mention she’s best friends with his ex-wife Maggie.”

    Still, García-Rulfo finds the pairing in Season 3 interesting, “especially because they are opposites. She is very strong, beautiful and true to the book, while Mickey is driven by his instincts.”

    Like Mickey, Andrea is wracked with guilt after failing to inform a client named Deborah Glass that her abusive ex-husband is being temporarily released from prison, leading to her murder. “As we raised the stakes with Mickey, we also had to raise the stakes with Andrea so that they were in that appropriate place with each other,” Humphrey says.

    Who dies in “Lincoln Lawyer” Season 3? Mickey has to deal with two serious deaths

    Season 3 of “The Lincoln Lawyer” has the highest body count of any season to date.

    In Episode 3, “Rearview Blind Spots,” Andrea receives news that her client was murdered by her ex-husband. In Episode 5, “What Happens in Victorville”, Mickey and his new driver Eddie Rojas (Allyn Moriyon) get into a tragic accident orchestrated by De Marco (who also dies at the end of the season). I won’t make it out alive. This is particularly painful since Eddie is a family friend who used to babysit Mickey’s daughter Hayley. “So what happens to him has repercussions that go beyond just the case,” Humphrey says.

    García-Rulfo says Eddie’s death “just breaks him,” adding that it’s a turning point for Mickey, too.

    “He says, ‘No matter what happens, I will find the truth and justice.’ He knows that everything is at stake, his family is in danger, but that’s why I believe the ghosts are there,” says García-Rulfo, referring to Mickey’s character who faces the ghosts in the final scenes of Episode 10 by Gloria, Eddie and his father “It’s his conscience that he won’t let him go until he’s come all the way. But it’s sad, poor Eddie, he’s so sweet.”

    Then, at the start of the final episode, “The Gods of Guilt,” Neil Bishop (Holt McCallany), who worked with De Marco, dies by suicide by shooting himself, according to his testimony. “The climax of season three, which is actually Bishop’s testimony, is one of the most indelible moments in all of Michael Connelly’s Lincoln Lawyer books,” says Humphrey. “In a way, the whole show has been building up to this moment.”

    ‘Lincoln Lawyer’ Finale: Who Framed Mickey Haller for Sam Scales’ Death?

    You may need to watch it again The Watch the final scene of Episode 10 a few times to really grasp what’s happening.

    After Mickey proves Julian’s innocence – at the expense of Bishop shooting himself and Julian almost not surviving prison after a knife attack – the gang goes out to a celebratory dinner where he announces that he will be taking a much-needed vacation.

    But before he can turn on his out-of-office message, he may have to prove his own innocence. After leaving the restaurant, Mickey drives through the streets of LA in his sleek Lincoln Continental and is later suspiciously stopped by an officer. The two go back and forth when the police officer tells him his license plate is missing – but when the two look at the car’s bumper, blood is dripping from the trunk.

    Once the officer opens the trunk, Mickey is confronted with the corpse of Sam Scales (Christopher Thornton), a former client of Mickey and Lorna’s first after she passes the bar exam. “The hope is that people will freeze the frame and look closely because you can actually see his wheelchair and that will give you a little clue,” Humphrey says.

    “The ending is just another big catch,” says García-Rulfo. “Mickey is always struggling with something and it’s very gratifying for viewers and actors to see the hero overcome all these obstacles if you still want to see him succeed.”

    The struggle could be real for the Los Angeles-based lawyer: “But I can assure you that Mickey Haller isn’t going down without a fight,” Humphrey says, “and neither is Lorna or anyone else.”
