Dhanteras 2024 marks the beginning of the five-day celebration of Diwali. Also known as Dhanatrayodashi, the festival is celebrated with great fervor and joy in several parts of India on Tuesday, October 29. Devotees worship Lord Kubera, Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Dhanvantari on this day and seek blessings for prosperity and health.

It is also considered extremely auspicious to buy gold and silver items on this day. Purchasing other items like utensils, broom handles, etc. is also considered auspicious. Purchasing these items from Dhanteras brings good luck and wealth. Many people may not be aware that there are a few items that you shouldn’t buy today. Here is the list of other items that should not be purchased on Dhanteras.

Dhanteras is an extremely important Hindu festival associated with prosperity, good health and wealth.

When is Dhanteras?

Dhanteras inaugurated the five-day Diwali celebrations. The festival is celebrated every year on the thirteenth day of the month of Krishna Paksha in Kartik (October to November). Just like the confusion over the dates of various festivals, there was confusion over the dates of Dhanteras, be it October 29th or 30th. This year the festival will be celebrated on October 29th. Dhanteras Puja Muhurat is held for one hour and 49 minutes.

Details of Dhanteras Muhurat timings are given below:

-Dhanteras Puja Muhurat – 7:00 pm to 8:49 pm

-Yama Deepam falls on Tuesday, October 29th.

-Pradosh Kaal – 6:12 pm to 8:53 pm

-Vrishabha Kaal – 7:00 pm to 8:49 pm

-Trayodashi Tithi begins on October 29th at 1:01 am. Dhanteras Trayodashi Tithi ends on October 30 at 3:45 am.
