Detroit Lions coach Dan Campbell sells house due to privacy concerns

According to Crain’s Detroit Business, Detroit Lions coach Dan Campbell plans to move out of his Bloomfield Hills home due to safety concerns. The Campbell family put the house up for sale this week because the public has found out where they live and the family would like to live a more private, personal life.

“It just so happens that when we lost, people found out where we live,” Campbell told Crain’s this week.

This isn’t the first time we’ve heard of Campbell’s personal life being disrupted by his celebrity status. A report from Jay Glazer of Fox Sports stated that after the Lions’ loss to the Dallas Cowboys in 2023, a group of contractors unexpectedly showed up at his home early in the morning.

“Somehow someone gave out his address and sent a bunch of repairmen to his house early in the morning to wake him up,” Glazer said.

Campbell did not comment to the media after the incident.

It’s a pretty sad state of the world we live in when a football coach can’t have a safe and uninterrupted private life just because his team loses a game or two. It’s especially upsetting that this should happen to one of the most popular and successful coaches in franchise history. Unfortunately, that seems to be the dirty underbelly of celebrity status these days. Let’s hope that wherever the Campbells live next, they can find a little more privacy and peace of mind.

UPDATE: According to FOX 2 Detroit, the hazing continued even after the Lions lost to the 49ers in the NFC Championship game, prompting the Campbells to file a police report. Campbell’s family has already moved into a new home.
