Despite the disappointing loss in Game 2, the Mets feel like winners heading into Citi Field

PHILADELPHIA – The Mets came six outs short of giving Citizens Bank Park a 2-0 lead in the NL Division Series. But the Phillies stole the win from their opponents by stunning them with a late-inning comeback followed by a walk-off hit.

However, New York does not disappoint. By winning one of two games at Citizens Bank Park, the Mets stole home-field advantage and made it a best-of-three series – Wild Card Part Deux, if you will.

“I would have liked to win this game too and be in a great position to win a game and move on,” Mets left fielder Brandon Nimmo said. “But they also played really well and had some really big hits.”

What the Mets are most looking forward to is returning home, where they haven’t been in two weeks and have traveled more than 3,200 miles. Since then, they’ve been fighting for a spot in the postseason, knocking off the Brewers in the Wild Card Series and then giving South Philadelphia a good scare.

“I mean, I think we’ve been on the road for the last six months,” Mets starter Luis Severino joked. “It feels good that we won games. We’ll be at home and the crowd will join in and we’ll win some games.”

If Citi Field’s recent watch parties are a taste of what’s in store for the NLDS when it heads to Game 3 on Wednesday, then the Phillies need to be prepared for a raucous fan base.

“You want to be able to go 2-0 up at home, but if you’re in a position to go up 1-1 and go to New York, I can imagine it being there “It’s going to be pretty hostile and a lot of fun,” Phillies first baseman Bryce Harper said.
