Denver Nuggets make roster moves before facing Minnesota Timberwolves

The Denver Nuggets have returned to an even .500 mark at 2-2 after losing their first two games of the NBA season. After picking up two overtime wins against the Brooklyn Nets and Toronto Raptors, the Nuggets now set their sights on Friday’s game against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

This game is a rematch of last season’s Western Conference Semifinals series, which Minnesota won in seven games. However, both teams now look different than they did in this series, especially the Timberwolves after trading Karl-Anthony Towns to the New York Knicks in exchange for Julius Randle and Donte DiVincenzo.

According to DNVR’s Harrison Wind, the Nuggets made a roster move prior to this game, sending Jalen Pickett to the Grand Rapids Gold (Denver’s G League affiliate).

Pickett appeared in just one game for the Nuggets this season, playing two minutes against the Oklahoma City Thunder in Denver’s upset loss on opening night. The 6-foot-2 guard turned 25 on Oct. 22 and will move to the G League, where he is expected to see increased playing time.

Pickett was selected 32nd overall in the 2023 NBA Draft and has played 28 NBA games. There is no path to rotation minutes for Pickett on the current Nuggets team, so it makes sense for the organization to send him to the G League where he can get consistent reps.
