Denver Nuggets are trying for their first win in the preseason redux

The Denver Nuggets haven’t won in the preseason yet. Sure, the games in Abu Dhabi and playing some good teams didn’t help matters, but it would still be nice to get a win. Michael Malone tends to agree, and he has tried to challenge the team to play better than them. It’s clear he’s not happy with their performances so far and only a few players in the squad look like they’re giving 100%. So they get another chance to appease their coach against a team that has given them a lot of problems in the past – the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The basics

WHO: Denver Nuggets (0-4) at Minnesota Timberwolves (2-2)

When: 7:00 PM MDT

Where: Target Center, Minneapolis, MN

How to watch/listen: NBA League Pass, 92.5 FM Altitude Radio. Show up at the target center, open a vent, army crawl through, drop into a supply closet, steal some disguise, and then enjoy the show. Sail on the high seas.

Injury report: Jamal Murray – questionable (knee), Aaron Gordon – questionable (calf), Peyton Watson – questionable (hamstring), DaRon Holmes II – out (Achilles)

The three things

What you should pay attention to: Julian Strawther

Julian Strawther was a bright spot in a bleak pre-season. He has had great success in the preseason, shooting an impressive 50% from distance in the first four games (September 18). He also puts them up at a solid volume at just over 4 per game. He has shown skill, excels as a shot maker and has clear ability as a catch and shoot threat. He also meshes well with soon-to-be sixth man Russell Westbrook. The Nuggets will need him to be good, and so far he seems promising enough to bet he can do that. Who knows, maybe he’ll be the kick this team needs to get back into the championship. So just sit back, relax and remember to enjoy the show – Julian Strawther is on your team.

Here’s what you should remember: It’s preseason!

I’ve seen a lot of doomerism on the team since the team started 0-4 in the preseason. It makes sense – you always do want Your team wins. However, it’s early season, folks! It doesn’t matter. Once this calendar hits October 22nd, none of that matters anymore. Certainly we can judge some things from a few games – for example, that Zeke Nnaji looks good or that there will definitely be issues with spacing. But all of the issues that crop up (which will be at least a permanent thorn in our side) are ones we knew would be there before the season. We knew that the depth beyond the main cast would be shaky at best. We knew Jalen Pickett and Hunter Tyson probably wouldn’t be rotation guys. Most people other than a certain Nuggets draft insider knew that Vlatko Cancar probably wouldn’t be an impactful player – especially not early on. Yes, Jamal Murray has struggled, but he’s also always been a streaky player. It’ll be okay. Take a deep breath. In. Out of. Let’s go.

What you should bet on: I’m not playing! Don’t take my advice on sports betting.
