Denver Broncos vs Los Angeles Chargers Predictions and Tips

The Denver Broncos have won three games in a row, two of which were back-to-back road games on the East Coast. There is no rest for the weary, for the Los Angeles Chargers come to town to take on the AFC West for the second straight year at Empower Field at Mile High.

The Chargers are banged up, but they’re coming off a bye, while the Broncos likely will beaten a few starters on the offensive line. It’s also the first AFC West meeting for Sean Payton and Jim Harbaugh, both of whom ran for the Broncos’ head coaching job 18 months ago.

Who is ahead? Let’s go around that Mile High Huddle Table to see how our employees imagine this.

Kenneth Booker (@kenneth_MHH) 0-5: The Broncos look to continue their winning streak when they take on Harbaugh and the Chargers. Expect Denver’s defense to start strong and give quarterback Bo Nix time to find his rhythm. This game is expected to be a tough battle, with Wil Lutz potentially securing the win with a field goal late in the fourth quarter.

Choose: Broncos 23, Chargers 13

James Campbell (@JamesC_MHH) 3-2: The Broncos are on the rise thanks to strong and aggressive defense, special teams play, an improving ground game and complementary football. The Chargers are clearly a team in transition, searching for an identity, with a sputtering offense and a brilliant defense. Still, the Chargers are behind, and Denver will have to prepare for a short week this time around. It will be close this week, so the advantage is being with the away team.

Choose: Chargers 17, Broncos 14

Keith Cummings (@KeithC_NFL) 4-1: Looking ahead to the next few games, the Broncos have a huge chance to maintain their winning streak. The main thing here is to win the turnover battle and keep Los Angeles gunslinger Justin Herbert on the visitors’ sideline. Javonte Williams provides the hard yards and Nix runs for the winning score late in the fourth quarter.

Choose: Broncos 28, Chargers 21

Carl Dümler (@CarlDumlerMHH) 1-4: The Chargers are one of the hardest teams to read this season. Statistically, they have a great defense, but have had some difficult moments along the way. The Broncos enter this Sunday with a lot of momentum, coming off a narrow win while relying heavily on the running game to help an injured offensive line. Nix caps it all off with a big play-action touchdown for Marvin Mims Jr.

Choose: Broncos 24, Chargers 17

Mike Evans (@MHHEvans) 2-3: The Broncos and Chargers will battle it out for AFC West prestige, with mistakes likely deciding the winner. Both teams have elite defenses — the Broncos ranked No. 4 and the Chargers ranked No. 7 — so offenses that are already struggling (Denver 28th, Chargers tied for 29th) will face relentless pressure. In a tight contest where turnovers and penalties will be the deciding factor, expect Denver to pull out a narrow victory with its second-ranked special teams and disciplined play.

Choose: Broncos 20, Chargers 13

Thomas Hall (@ThomasHallNFL) 3-2: This game is a must-win for the Broncos if they have playoff aspirations. It will also be a starting point if this young team can get victory when it matters most and in a game they should win. The Chargers are very banged up and have an injury list as long as your arm is the deciding factor in the Broncos getting a close win.

Choose: Broncos 19, Chargers 17

Zack Kelberman (@KelbermanNFL) 2-3: While we fully understand that there are always disagreements in divisional battles, it’s difficult to prevail at home against the red-hot Broncos, who are riding the momentum of a three-game winning streak. They have done well in the past against Justin Herbert playing through injury and should be able to control the tempo with a revitalized Javonte Williams. It will have a low score and probably won’t be sexy. But 4:2 is 4:2.

Choose: Broncos 17, Chargers 16

Chad Jensen (@ChadNJensen) 1-4: The Broncos are building trust in the fan base. It’s okay to hope and expect victories. Nix is the first Broncos rookie quarterback to ever win three straight. Against a badly injured Chargers squad with an elite defense that can’t get the better of the quarterback, Nix is having a better day than many would expect in the box score, but Denver’s third down woes continue. This game ends as a tough battle as Herbert is thrown out of the game and Lutz seals the victory with a walk-off field goal.

Choose: Broncos 16, Chargers 14

Nick Kendell (@NickKendellMHH) 2-3: Who the hell is this Chargers team? After four games it’s hard to pinpoint who they are. The Chargers lack firepower on offense, but their defense is shockingly one of the best in the NFL and the best defense in football in Run Defense EPA/Play. The Chargers are banged up but are taking a bye to get healthy. If the Chargers completely destroy Denver’s running game and make it a low-scoring matchup between Herbert and Nix, it’s hard not to turn to the veteran at this point in their careers.

Choose: Chargers 20, Broncos 14

Bob Morris (@BobMorrisSports) 2-3: The Chargers are coming off a bye week, but it remains to be seen who will play for them, especially Joey Bosa. Both teams have quality defense, so expect a low-scoring game. It seems to be a tradition for the Broncos and Chargers to split their games (although Denver beat them last year), and from 2020 to 2022 the visiting team won. Give this to the team fresh off the bye, but expect the Broncos to get revenge later this season.

Choose: Chargers 13, Broncos 10

Luke Patterson (@LukePattersonLP) 2-3: Both teams are banged up, but it will be crucial for Vance Joseph’s voracious Denver defense to hamper an already banged-up Herbert. Payton and Nix will need to be aggressive and should deliver the knockout blow by winning time of possession and first down battle.

Choose: Broncos 27, Chargers 16

Lance Sanderson (@LanceS_MHH) 2-3: These teams are almost an exact mirror of each other, with quality defenses and struggling offenses. Expect a slow and ugly affair with low points and lots of possession. Denver has the best chance of winning through special teams, and I fully expect Mims to put the offense in the plus field position at least once on Sunday and maybe even be close to bringing one of those to the house.

Choose: Broncos 13, Chargers 9

Erick Trickel (@ErickTrickel) 1-4: Statistically, the Chargers appear to have a strong defense, but they allowed Justin Fields and Gardner Minshew to have good days and held Bryce Young to his worst passing day of the season. The Chargers’ defense is led by a pass rush that can give the Broncos problems, but they have overperformed while their offense has underperformed. The Broncos’ offense has stalled, but they’re finally getting going against the Chargers’ defense. The Broncos defense continues to run against the Chargers. 4-2, here we come.

Choose: Broncos 33, Chargers 12

Dylan Von Arx (@DylanVonArxMHH) 2-3: The Broncos are on a hot streak, winning three games in a row. The Chargers’ defensive numbers are unbalanced due to their opponents, but Denver’s offense must remain composed. The Broncos’ defense is one of the best in the league and will attack Herbert and ruin the Chargers’ offensive game plan for the win.

Choose: Broncos 20, Chargers 17

Ron White (@RonWhiteNFL) 2-3: The Broncos are on a three-game winning streak. Expect the Broncos to continue to build their offense while also focusing on containing JK Dobbins defensively. The game ends on Lutz’s reliable leg.

Choose: Broncos 20, Chargers 17
