Dennis Quaid’s ex-fiancé accuses him of supporting Trump

Actress Lea Thompson, who was engaged to Dennis Quaid in the 1980s, accused him of supporting former President Donald Trump.

On X, formerly called Twitter, Thompson responded to a video Quaid shared at a Trump rally, writing, “I was engaged to him,” along with a confused face emoji.

In the video, Quaid is shown speaking at a Trump rally in Coachella, California on Saturday, saying: “Are we going to be a nation of law and order?” Or wide open borders? Which is it? Because it’s time to choose a side.”

Quaid, who recently played the role of Ronald Reagan in the film “Reagan,” has been vocal about his support for Trump. In May, he endorsed the Republican presidential candidate in “Piers Morgan Uncensored.”

“Trump is probably the most scrutinized person in the history of the world, and they haven’t been able to really question him about anything,” Quaid said.

That same month, Trump was found guilty on 34 counts of falsifying business documents to cover up an alleged affair with porn actor Stormy Daniels.

In 2012, Thompson reflected on her engagement to Quaid in an interview with HuffPost, calling him a “great guy.”

“He taught me everything I needed to know about Hollywood and acting,” she said. “I met him on my very first film, so I didn’t know anything. I really owe him a debt of gratitude for teaching me the basics.”
