Delta planes collide on taxiways at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta Airport

A collision between two Delta Air Lines aircraft was reported at Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport.

FOX 5 Atlanta has received messages and photos from people claiming to have been passengers on the affected planes.

A meteorologist with WFTS, an ABC affiliate station in Tampa Bay, Florida, said he was a passenger with the television station’s crew on one of the planes from Atlanta to Louisiana. According to the meteorologist, the tail of his plane was grazed by another plane as it was taxiing to the runway.

According to Delta Air Lines, the wing of an Airbus A350, DL295, taxiing from Atlanta to Tokyo-Haneda, contacted the tail of an Endeavor Air CRJ-900, DL5526 to LaFayette, Louisiana, on an adjacent taxiway, damaging the tail of the regional jet and the wing of the A350.

No injuries have been reported so far and passengers are being returned to the terminal where they will be rebooked on alternative flights.

There were 221 customers on DL295 and 56 customers on DL5526. No further operational adjustments are currently expected.

Delta said it is cooperating with the NTSB and other authorities on the incident.

The NTSB confirmed to FOX 5 Atlanta that they are aware of the incident and are gathering additional information.

The ground collision occurred at approximately 10:07 a.m.
