Delta Air Lines launches new aircraft on Accra-New York route

Accra, October 4, 2024, GNA – Delta Air Lines, a leading international air service provider, has introduced a new aircraft, the Airbus 330-900 Neo, on its daily non-stop Accra to JFK-New York route from Wednesday, October 2.

The new aircraft with a seating capacity of 281 would provide additional comfort to passengers traveling from Accra to the United States.

The Airbus 330-900 Neo was greeted with a “water cannon” salute as it landed at Kotoka International Airport earlier this week.

Speaking to reporters in Accra on Wednesday, Mr Ralph Albus, Director of Global Communications at Delta Airlines, said the latest aircraft was unveiled following customer feedback and surveys.

Aside from the increased number of seats, he explained that the improved aircraft “increases comfort” for customers through four different cabin experiences.

“The next-generation aircraft increases Delta’s seating capacity between Ghana and the United States by approximately 30% while enhancing the customer experience through greater comfort.”

Speaking at the launch event in Accra, Mr Albus said: “Customers will enjoy Delta’s state-of-the-art Airbus A330-900neo, offering the latest in premium travel.” The accelerated deployment of this new aircraft reflects the strong demand for our product and we are pleased to serve passengers “To be able to offer a first-class onboard experience across the Atlantic with Delta’s renowned service.”

“Delta’s all-new Airbus A330-900neo will provide approximately 1,000 additional seats each week between Ghana and the United States, while offering travelers the choice of four unique cabin experiences: Delta One Suites, Delta Premium Select, Delta Comfort+ and Main Cabin.” the aircraft has increased cargo capacity to meet increasing demand.”

The Delta One Suites are fully equipped Reclining seats, luxury bedding and privacy doors paired with chef-crafted meals and premium beverages.

Delta Premium Select offers enhanced comfort with wider seats and extra legroom, while Delta Comfort+ and Main Cabin offer spacious seats, memory foam pillows and personalized entertainment with more than 1,000 hours of content.

Across all cabins, passengers enjoy state-of-the-art features, including ambient lighting for a relaxing flight and paid Wi-Fi access.

“Success in Ghana,” said Mr. Albus, thanking Delta’s valued customers, the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority and the Government of Ghana.

“Delta’s introduction of the Airbus A330-900neo deepens the connection between Ghana and the United States, providing additional capacity and world-class service.”

Mr. Albus expressed confidence in the prospects of the Ghanaian market, noting that Delta Airlines will continue to provide quality service and expand international operations while ensuring safety.

“Safety for Delta is our top priority. This (Airbus 330-900 Neo) is an aircraft we ordered ten years ago; We have 31 of them in our fleet,” he said.

“We have very experienced pilots and this is a very tested product from Airbus, one of the two leading aircraft manufacturers, and we have our own safety culture at Delta, so I am very confident about the safety of the (plane),” he said .

The director assured customers of value for money, adding that Delta Air Lines will reach a milestone of serving 200 million customers this year.

Ms. Eloina Baddoo, General Manager of Delta Air Lines, expressed optimism about the demand for the new flight, stating that it would not impact existing prices.

As part of its commitment to making flying experiences memorable and enjoyable for travelers, Delta Airline began rolling out fast, free Wi-Fi on select long-haul international routes in August this year.

The service provided by T-Mobile is described as “an important milestone in the airline’s journey to provide reliable, streaming-quality connectivity for free across its global fleet.”

According to the company, most transatlantic flights should have free Wi-Fi available by the end of the summer.

Delta Airlines also partnered with Italian luxury fashion brand Missoni earlier this year, which is currently providing amenity kits on the Delta One flight and supplying “bespoke elements” for the new Delta One lounge at John F. Kennedy Airport (JFK) in New York , United States.
