Chicago police on Monday ordered the closure of Deja Vu Showgirls, an erotic club near the city’s West Side, hours after at least four people were shot during a dispute inside.

A sign reading “Business closed by order of the Chief of Police” was taped to the door of the establishment at 750 S. Clinton in the afternoon. According to Chicago police, a shooting occurred around 3:30 a.m. after several people got into an argument.

One guest described the chaos that erupted when the shots were fired, including seeing others performing CPR as help arrived.

“I came back down and saw someone lying on the ground shot,” Jasmine said. “While they were on the ground being shot, we tried to help them. I ran down the stairs, the police were just arriving.”

A 27-year-old man was seriously injured in the shooting and suffered multiple gunshot wounds to his body.

A 35-year-old man was also shot in the thigh and buttocks, a 32-year-old in the thigh and a 26-year-old in the abdomen. All were found in good condition at a nearby hospital.

Police said no one was in custody Monday evening and investigations were ongoing.

NBC 5 Investigates took a closer look at the reported crimes at the nightclub.

The data showed an increase in reported incidents across the block over the past year and a half, as well as a recent, slight increase in the number of crimes reported within the club itself.

Before Monday’s shooting, police had already reported two cases of violent crime inside the club this year, including an alleged sexual assault on May 31 and aggravated assault with a handgun on March 18. The biggest question surrounding this particular shooting is how someone was able to get a gun inside.

Management declined to comment and referred NBC Chicago to a corporate number. We called that number but only got a voicemail.
