David Schwimmer stars in the first teaser

It might be RL Stine’s 82nd birthday, but Goose flesh The fans are in for a big surprise.

On Tuesday, Disney+ and Hulu shared the first teaser for the second season of the anthology series adaptation of Stine’s books, premiering January 10, and revealed the title Goosebumps: The Disappearance and a first look at new star David Schwimmer.

“You seem to be joining a host,” Schwimmer says offscreen as his face appears on the screen, framed by a splashing black liquid. “It’s for the greater good.”

Goosebumps: The Disappearance follows twins Cece (Jayden Bartels) and Devin Brewer (Sam McCarthy) as they spend the summer with their divorced father (Schwimmer) in Gravesend, Brooklyn. A threat arises and they quickly realize that dark secrets lie beneath, triggering a chain of events that uncover a deep secret. As they venture into the unknown, Cece, Devin and their friends become entangled in the spooky story of four teenagers who mysteriously disappeared in 1994.

In the eight-episode season, Schwimmer plays Anthony Brewer, a former botany professor deeply interested in science and mystery. Also starring are Ana Ortiz, Elijah M. Cooper, Galilea La Salvia, Francesca Noel and Stony Blyden.

Fans of Stine’s popular book series will recognize elements from it Stay out of the basement, The haunted car, Monster blood, The Girl Who Screamed Monster, The ghost next door And Welcome to Camp Nightmareall of which served as inspiration for the second season.

Developed by Nicholas Stoller and Rob Letterman, showrunner is Hilary Winston. They serve as EPs with Scholastic Entertainment’s Neal H. Moritz, Iole Lucchese and Caitlin Friedman, Pavun Shetty, Conor Welch, Erin O’Malley, Karl Frankenfield and James Eagan.
