Dave had his Zach Bryan diss track reposted on YouTube, then it was removed again because it turned out that Josh Richards had signed a deal with Warner Music when he was 19, so Dave promised a new diss within 24 hours track

The saga continues…

Two nights ago (Tuesday, election night), Dave released “Smallest Man” – his and Josh Richards’ dissident track aimed at Zach Bryan.

It was surprisingly vicious, five minutes long full of scathing accusations and jabs at the country superstar.

Dave woke up, went straight to the attack, and promoted the song like a young, hungry Soundclap rapper.

A few hours later the song dropped.

Withdrawn on YouTube and Spotfiy, Warner Music Group had issued a DCMA strike against YouTube (and Spotify) for copyright infringement, after which YouTube (and Spotify) both removed the song from their platform.

Dave resumed the attack I blogged about on Wednesday afternoon.

And as I wrote back then, anyone who knows ANYTHING about Dave knows this Last thing In the world where you do when he attacks is to poke the bear.

As the famous saying goes, let sleeping dogs lie.

No. Zach Bryan blocked everyone at Barstool, and his music label made the song a much bigger deal by not only giving it attention, but also pulling it.

Then, late in the afternoon, news came that the copyright appeal had been upheld and the song was back on YouTube and the other platforms.

But just two hours later things went downhill again…

For what damn reason was it drawn a second time?

Dave explained:

After it was taken down for the first time, I texted Dave trying to figure out why it was taken down. (He comes to Barstool backstage to discuss the whole thing, so tune in). Even our director of rights and clearances, Kaymo, had no idea what YouTube’s reasoning was. No one had any idea at the time, but Dave mentioned that Josh had signed a music contract with Warner Music Group when he was 19, and that too Perhaps that was the reason?

Surprise, surprise, not only does Josh appear to be over 19, but it turns out that this was the second card Warner Music played to cancel this after Dave and Josh first claimed that at the end the song against Zach’s lyrics violates their song.

Giphy images.

That’s exactly why hot entertainment lawyers make big bucks, drink the best scotch, and fuck the best cut.

I’m not even sure Josh himself remembered that Warner Music had his ass in regards to the music he released under their agreement.

Can you imagine it occurred to him this afternoon after the video was taken down and he casually said to Dave, “Well, I just remembered that I kind of signed my life away to Warner Music Group last year. So that might be why they’re upset that we’re targeting their biggest star on their label.”

The gorilla’s cage has been shaken and now he’s pissed. Whatever the reason, Dave is out for blood and like Kendrick Lamar, who released “Not Like Us” 24 hours after he hit Drake with “Meet the Grahams,” he promised he’ll get one tomorrow Will release follow-up track for Zach.

He’s also taping a new episode of “BFF’s” with Josh tomorrow, where we’re sure to find out a lot more about the whole thing. And as I mentioned above, he will be backstage at Barstool later this afternoon. So keep an eye out for that too.

PS: Every time I watch the video I have to pull up Beastie’s video after seeing those sunglasses and mustaches.
