Dashcam video shows wild chase in Miami-Dade that ended in rollover crash involving box truck – NBC 6 South Florida

A new dashcam video shows a wild police chase in Miami-Dade that ended with an accident that caused a van to flip on its side and a suspect to face charges.

The incident occurred on August 1 when authorities were following a black GMC Denali pickup truck that had been reported stolen in Broward.

Video obtained by NBC6 on Thursday shows authorities pursuing the truck as it headed south on Interstate 95 into Miami-Dade and then onto the Palmetto Expressway.

The truck exits on Northwest 7th Avenue and stops while authorities shout instructions to the driver.

“Driver, roll down the window! Driver!” an officer shouts before the truck suddenly speeds away.

According to a police report, the Denali crashed into a white Mercedes and then fled east on Palmetto.

The video shows the truck racing through traffic, narrowly missing other vehicles on the inside lane.

As the Denali approached the Golden Glades Interchange, it struck three other vehicles and then crossed onto the wrong side of the road, where it struck the box truck, causing it to overturn.

The driver lost control and the truck came to rest on the grassy shoulder of the State Road 91 entrance ramp from Northwest 7th Avenue.

The police report states that the driver got out of the Denali when officers approached him at gunpoint, but refused to stop.

“Let me see your damn hands!” an officer yells at him in the video before two police officers take him into custody.

Authorities arrested the driver, 35-year-old Joseph Samuel Gianino, and charged him with several charges, including aggravated hit-and-run, grand theft auto, hit-and-run and driving without a license.

According to the report, Gianino is already on probation for fleeing and escaping.
