Dallas Cowboys sign quarterback Dak Prescott with the most lucrative contract in NFL history

The Dallas Cowboys and quarterback Dak Prescott have agreed to a four-year, $240 million contract that makes the Mississippi State product the highest-paid player in NFL history, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Entering the offseason, the Cowboys were criticized for their lack of free agent signings and failure to extend the contracts of franchise cornerstones CeeDee Lamb, Micah Parsons and Prescott.

Dallas has now signed Lamb and Prescott to generous new contracts that will keep them on the USA team for the foreseeable future.

Lamb’s four-year, $136 million contract made him the second-highest-paid non-quarterback in the league.

Prescott is coming off the most successful season of his NFL career, passing for 4,516 yards with 36 touchdowns and nine interceptions. For his performances, the Cowboys quarterback was named to the NFL All-Pro Second Team, nominated to the Pro Bowl and finished second in the AP NFL MVP voting.

The Cowboys open their season on Sunday at 3:25 p.m. against the Cleveland Browns at Cleveland Browns Stadium.
