Scotland will look to get their Nations League campaign underway by taking on Croatia in Zagreb.

Steve Clarke’s side lost both their opening games and were defeated by Poland and Portugal in later games. This is part of an eight-game winning streak that extends beyond Euro 2024. “Not winning games is terrible,” Clarke said this week. “The performances have to be good. If the performance is good, hopefully we have a chance to get a few points.”

Clarke is struggling with a number of injuries with several key players missing from the squad including John McGinn, Kieran Tierney, Lawrence Shankland and Angus Gunn. Gunn’s injury means 39-year-old Croatia captain Luka Modric will not be the oldest player on the pitch, with 41-year-old Craig Gordon taking the gloves for Scotland.

The game will not be televised live as ITV has not taken over the broadcast rights, and can only be viewed on Viaplay International’s YouTube channel. Follow all the Croatia vs Scotland live action below.

Croatia – Scotland 1-1

Wow. Relief for Scotland, but not for the neutrals.

Modric puts the ball down to shoot from distance, but the ball is blocked by a Scotland jersey. They try to break and the whistle blows just before Luka Sucic shoots into the net from outside the box!

Modric grabs the loose ball and Croatia stays in possession before the captain fires a shot across his body, forcing Gordon to make a save on the fly. However, comfortable.

Furthermore, Christie was actually awarded that first goal.

At the moment, neither side can bring anything remarkable together. It’s stop-start when Dykes wins a free kick just before half-time.

Scotland’s first push forward fails after Christie loses it. A similarly cautious start to the second half so far.

HALFTIME! Croatia – Scotland 1-1

It started slowly, but developed into an exciting half for the neutrals, from which fans of both sides can draw positive things.

Scotland have come so close to taking points from their opponents in their first two games, so can they finally take a result here?

There have certainly been encouraging signs, and it looks like they could have some real joy in the starting blocks.
