County announces changed wastewater service status for West Maui region: Maui Now

The Maui County Department of Environmental Services’ Wastewater Treatment Division has announced that it has changed the sewer service status from “red,” meaning a property is not currently connected to sewer service, to “green,” meaning sewer service is active for a property in the following area: Seven properties near Kahula Place and the south end of Lahainaluna Road.

DEM Director Shayne Agawa first announced the updates on Wednesday, August 14, at the weekly Disaster Recovery Community Update Meeting at the Lahaina Civic Center.

The fires damaged some of the sewer infrastructure, disrupting sewer service to many properties in the affected areas. To determine if your home or business’s sewer service is affected, visit https://www.mauirecovers.org/wastewater and enter your address in the search bar on the County of Maui’s interactive Canal Service Status map.

DEM anticipates additional actions will be taken in the coming weeks and months in the areas in Lahaina affected by the August 2023 wildfires. If you have any questions regarding the status of sewerage, please contact the Wastewater Rehabilitation Division at 808-270-7417.
