A classic cool and crisp fall evening is expected when the Buffalo Bills take on the New York Jets and interim coach Jeff Ulbrich on Monday Night Football.

It’s the second Monday night game for the Bills this season and their fourth primetime game in just six games. Wind could play a role, however, with windy conditions and gusts of nearly 30 miles per hour expected at kickoff.

The national weather forecast for East Rutherford, New Jersey, calls for game temperatures in the low 50s and mostly clear skies on Monday. Winds will be from the west at 15 mph, with gusts of 18 mph and a very low chance of precipitation.

The AccuWeather forecast calls for slightly cooler evening temperatures at Metlife Stadium Monday night, but a similar cloud cover and chance of rain. The wind forecast is also about the same, although the AccuWeather forecast calls for slightly slower maximum wind gusts of 27 mph.

How the weather between Bills and Jets affects the odds and bets

With an over-under of 41 points, the Bills are 2.5-point favorites over the Aaron Rodgers-led Jets.

When wind speeds increase above the NFL average of 7 miles per hour, pass ratings drop, both in production and efficiency, according to betting site Covers.com. It’s not just passing by that is affected either. When the wind reaches 20 miles per hour, which is expected with gusts on Monday, the average field goal distance drops by about 7 yards and the conversion rate also drops by 6%.

  • The Bills lead the all-time series over the Jets 69-58, but despite the sheer volume of games against each other, they have only played in the postseason once, in 1981, which the Bills won 31-27. Buffalo defeated the Jets 32-6 in their last game on November 19, 2023.
  • The Bills and Jets play at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on Monday, October 14th at 8:15 p.m. The game will be broadcast on ESPN. Joe Buck and Troy Aikman will dominate the game.
