College football live scores, games: Ohio State at Penn State and more

Week 10 won’t be a blast, but there are always surprises on weekends like this.

No. 3 Penn State hosts No. 4 Ohio State in a crucial Big Ten matchup to open the day. The Buckeyes have already suffered one conference loss, so another loss on Saturday would cripple their quest for the Big Ten title. As for the Nittany Lions, everyone is aware of James Franklin’s difficulties in big matchups. A win over Ohio State would be huge for him and would go a long way toward securing a playoff spot for PSU.

Here are the biggest games late Saturday. (Scroll down to watch the action live.)

Time: 3:30 p.m. | TV: CBS | Line: Oregon -14.5 | Overall: 45.5

Is this the biggest game remaining for the Ducks? Oregon’s Dillon Gabriel is one of the betting favorites for the Heisman Trophy and the Ducks have scored no fewer than 31 points against an FBS opponent this season. Michigan’s star cornerback Will Johnson will reportedly miss the game. The Wolverines returned Davis Warren at QB but have struggled to score points regardless of who is under center.

Time: 7:30 p.m. | TV: ESPN | Line: Clemson -10.5 | Overall: 62.5

Week 10 is a great opportunity to take a look at Clemson if you haven’t seen much of the Tigers since their disastrous loss to Georgia in Week 1. QB Cade Klubnik is now the No. 5 favorite for the Heisman and the receiving corps is deep. Cardinals QB Tyler Shough has thrown for 2,348 yards and 20 touchdowns and five interceptions in eight games.

Time: 8 p.m. | TV: ACC Network | Line: SMU -7.5 | Overall: 58.5

The Panthers received good news on Wednesday when coach Pat Narduzzi said QB Eli Holstein could play against the Mustangs. SMU is dealing with its own QB injury issues. Kevin Jennings is officially listed as questionable, but says he will be ready to play in a huge game in the ACC standings on Saturday.

Live36 updates

  • Touchdown Duke!

The Blue Devils extended their lead after halftime on a 6-yard touchdown pass from Maalik Murphy to Jordan Moore on fourth down, but the Hurricanes moved the ball with ease on the ensuing drive.

  • Penn State on the move

The Nittany Lions are starting to open up the playbook a bit. A 24-yard chunk play from Drew Allar to Harrison Wallace puts them above midfield.

  • OSU attacks FG

The Buckeyes’ first drive of the second half yields 3 points as Jayden Fielding kicks a 46-yard field goal.

    OSU 17, power supply 10

  • OSU receives the ball first in the 2nd half

We’re back in the second half and the Buckeyes are already above midfield.

  • Scoreboard update

Here’s how things stand as the first wave of play arrives at halftime:

  • INTERCEPTION OHIO STATE!

What a wild way to end the half in State College. Penn State appeared to have a score just before halftime, but OSU’s Davison Igbinosun pulled it off the receiver in the end zone for a touchback.

At halftime it is still 14-10.

  • Duke takes the lead in Miami

Meanwhile, in Coral Gables, the Blue Devils lead the Hurricanes just before halftime after Maalik Murphy found Peyton Jones for that short touchdown pass.

  • The power supply gets it back

The Nittany Lions have the ball just above midfield. They trailed 14-10 with less than two minutes left in the first half.

  • PSU hits back at OSU

Will Howard’s fumble seemed to be a huge turnaround in the game, but Ohio State’s defense held strong on the ensuing possession and the Buckeyes will take it back with just over three minutes left in the half.

  • OSU’s Will Howard fumbles into the end zone!

Will Howard made a deliberate run around the outside but fumbled the ball when it was touched just short of the end zone.

It was initially ruled a touchdown, but the ball was clearly out before it reached the end zone and went over the pylon for a touchback. It was reviewed and repealed.

It will be Penn State’s ball.

  • OSU converts on fourth down

The Buckeyes are on the move again, having scored a four-and-1 at midfield with just over nine minutes left in the second quarter.

  • Duke makes it to Miami

The Blue Devils aren’t giving up on Manny Diaz’s return to Miami. Maalik Murphy just found Sahmir Hagans on a short route and the receiver did the rest from there, running a 27-yard touchdown to tie the game at 14.

  • Ole Miss rolls early

With these two deep balls from Ole Miss QB Jaxson Dart (both over 60 yards), the Rebels have their SEC duel against Arkansas firmly under control.

  • Ohio State touchdown!

Will Howard finds Brandon Inniss on a short cross route and the running back does the rest from there, running it in for a 21-yard touchdown to give the Buckeyes the lead.

The drive was kept alive by a controversial penalty, this time an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty against Penn State (see below).

    OSU 14, power supply 10

  • Duke WR makes a wild sideline grab

We already saw an incredible catch in the ACC showdown between Miami and Duke. This one could be even better. Duke took Miami’s lead with a TD on the next play.

  • OSU forces a punt

The Buckeyes got away with what looked like pass interference on third-and-short, which would have kept PSU’s drive alive. OSU will have the ball back at its own 19 line.

  • Ohio State touchdown!

The Buckeyes bounced back immediately after picking 6. Will Howard capped a seven-play drive with a 25-yard touchdown pass to Emeka Egbuka to cut Penn State’s lead.

    PSU 10, OSU 7

  • The Buckeyes move the ball with ease on their second drive of the game. Quinshon Judkins just found an advantage and sprinted 29 yards to get Ohio State close to the red zone.

  • TOUCHDOWN PENN STATE!

Ohio State faced a third-and-5 and Will Howard made a big mistake. PSU’s Zion Tracy jumped the slant route, intercepted it and returned it 31 yards to the house.

What a start for Penn State!
