CNN chief media analyst Brian Stelter claimed Monday that the left-wing daytime talk show “The View” will ask tough questions of Vice President Kamala Harris this week.

Stelter, who recently returned to the network after his ouster two years ago, discussed former President Trump and Harris’ media strategies on Monday as Election Day approached. Harris, in particular, was criticized for avoiding interviews after accepting President Biden’s nomination, but now she appears to be focusing on what CNN called a “media blitz.”

“Well, she’s on ’60 Minutes’ tonight. This is the most viewed news magazine in the United States. Donald Trump initially agreed to appear on ’60 Minutes’, then withdrew. “I feel like he’s coming out of it pretty well,” Stelter said. “Imagine if Harris had agreed to go on ’60 Minutes’ and then backed out. I think she would have been heavily criticized. So when Trump decided not to go on ’60 Minutes,’ Harris was there. This will certainly be an example of tough questioning of the vice president.

Stelter further noted that Harris will appear on ABC’s “The View” on Tuesday and claimed he was assured that the co-hosts would ask tough questions of the Democratic candidate. “I spoke to the producers of ‘The View’ last night. They also have some tough questions for her,” he reported.

“And let’s remember, sometimes it’s these non-traditional formats that actually reveal a lot about candidates. Remember when Kamala Harris sat with Oprah Winfrey a few weeks ago and Harris said, ‘If anyone breaks into my house, you’ll be shot.’ “That was a very insightful soundbite, even though it was a friendly interview for Harris,” he said.

Stelter’s assertion that “The View” will ask tough questions of Harris seems at odds with the show’s political record, as co-hosts have openly spoken out against Trump and even criticized those who don’t commit to supporting him to vote for Democratic candidates.

On Friday, co-host Joy Behar implored Republican voters to give up their party affiliation and vote for the Democratic Party just once to get rid of Trump, saying, “Just do it this one time.” Do it this once. Vote for the Democrat to save the country.”

On Monday, Stelter spoke further about Harris and Trump’s parallel media strategies to woo young women and men, respectively.

“That’s why I found ‘Call Her Daddy’ really interesting. The interview actually revealed a lot about the candidate, and ultimately that’s what the Harris campaign, like the Trump campaign, is trying to do “influencer podcasts that are really trying to appeal to young men, doing YouTube shows and things like that.” he said.

“Harris tries to do these non-traditional formats like Stephen Colbert tomorrow night or Howard Stern tomorrow afternoon, but I find it remarkable that sometimes we hear a lot and there’s actually a lot of topical commentary in these interviews,” he added.
