And for the United States, the 2024 Paris Olympics were a great success, as Team USA ranked first among all countries in the number of medals won at the Summer Games, with a total of 126 medals. China tied with the United States for the most gold medals won (40), although the United States had the edge in silver medals (44-27) and bronze medals (42-24).

With the conclusion of competition on Sunday – in which the US women’s basketball team won its eighth consecutive gold medal – the Summer Olympics will come to an end with the closing ceremony at the Stade de France.

Mike Tirico and comedian Jimmy Fallon will host the closing ceremony in Paris. Terry Gannon and former U.S. team figure skaters Tara Lipinski and Johnny Weir will also be part of NBC’s coverage of the closing ceremony.
