The Demon Deacons are coming off a much-needed win against league opponent NC State after three straight losses, including setbacks to Virginia and Louisiana by a combined four points. Wake Forest is looking to end a 15-game losing streak in the series.

Key match

Clemson quarterback Cade Klubnik against Wake Forest’s pass defense. Klubnik is sixth among ACC passers with 1,219 yards and 14 touchdowns. With just two interceptions on 143 attempts this season, he has been able to reduce his error rate. This could be a possible mismatch with the Demon Deacons, who rank last in the league in passing yards given up with more than 291 per game.

Players to watch

Clemson: RB Phil Mafah had three games of 100 yards or more this season and had found a rhythm behind the Tigers’ improved offensive line. He rushed for a season-high 154 yards in a 29-13 win at Florida State.

Wake Forest: RB Demond Claiborne. Claiborne suffered what looked like a dislocated kneecap against Louisiana Tech, but trainers essentially reset it and he returned to complete a 60-yard touchdown run before having to sit out the rest of the way because of pain. He then ran 20 times for 136 yards and two touchdowns to go, along with a touchdown catch in the NC State win.
