    Clear your refrigerator of recalled items from Boar’s Head, BrucePac immediately

    You now need to double-check your refrigerator and freezer for several meat and poultry products that have been recalled due to possible metal and listeria contamination.

    This means you must either immediately destroy or return popular products from multiple national brands.

    Here’s a summary of the recent meat and pout recalls.

    The Boar’s Head meat recall results in the closure of the plant

    In August, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food and Safety Inspection Service confirmed that dozens of wild boar head meat had been placed on the recall list.

    Boar’s Head Provisions Co., Inc. expanded its recall of deli meats due to possible Listeria bacteria contamination.

    The company recalled approximately 7 million additional pounds of ready-to-eat meat and poultry products, including 71 products manufactured between May 10 and July 29, 2024, under the Boar’s Head and Old Country brands.

    These items include meat intended for slicing in delis and some packaged meat and poultry products sold at retail outlets.”

    The U.S. Department of Agriculture has published a table listing the additional types of meat being recalled and also has an alert with the labels of the recalled meats.

    The recall includes popular Boar’s Head delicacies such as beef salami; Bologna; Italian Cappy Ham; steakhouse-roasted bacon; sweet, sliced ​​raw ham; tavern ham; and Virginia ham.

    Listeria contamination is believed to have been responsible for at least two deaths, the permanent closure of a plant and at least one lawsuit.

    BrucePac is recalling chicken products

    Poultry producer BrucePac is currently recalling nearly 10 million pounds of chicken products due to a possible listeria outbreak. BrucePac products were distributed to and sold at several popular supermarkets, including Aldi, Trader Joe’s and Walmart.

    “The ready-to-eat meat and poultry products were manufactured from June 19, 2024 through October 8, 2024,” the USDA recall alert states. “These products were shipped to other establishments and retailers across the country and then distributed to restaurants and institutions. Product label information and product listing will be provided when available.”

    “The recalled products bear the company numbers “51205 or P-51205” within or below the USDA inspection mark.”

    Perdue announced a chicken nugget recall in August

    Over the summer, Perdue recalled 167,000 pounds of frozen, ready-to-eat nuggets and tenders because they were potentially contaminated with foreign material, particularly metal.

    The USDA Perdue recall list includes Perdue Simply Smart Organics Breaded Chicken Breast Nuggets; Perdue chicken breast tenders; and Butcherbox Organic Chicken Breast Nuggets.
