Clay and his family played against 74-year-old music producer David Foster and his 40-year-old singer wife Katherine McPhee. It turns out that the two families are related in a somewhat complicated, intermingled way.

Clay, 45, became famous on American Idol in 2003. He finished second. He released some music and collaborated with Foster. Then, in 2008, Clay announced that he had become a father to son Parker. The boy’s mother is Clay’s best friend and Foster’s sister Jaymes, now 66.

A month after becoming a father, Clay came out as gay.

Together with Clay and Parker Family dispute were Clay’s mother Faye, his brother Brett and Jaymes.

Clay told host Harvey why two members of the Foster family were split between the two teams, joking that Jaymes was “on the right team. She wanted to win tonight.”

Viewers commented not only on Parker’s resemblance to his father, but also on his intelligence and charm. When asked, “Name a famous Tom a girl would love to go to prom with,” he gave the best answer of the show.

Parker replied to Tom Holland.

Harvey was skeptical, but the answer proved convincing. Clay’s family donated their eventual winnings to the National Inclusion Project.

Career and politics after Idol

Since his time at idolClay Aiken has had a career in music and television. He has also tried to enter politics, running for office in North Carolina in 2014 and 2022. He won his 2014 Democratic primary but lost the election to the incumbent Republican. He failed to win his 2022 primary.

A few weeks ago, Clay told E! News that his son Parker has music “in his blood” and sings frequently, but he is not yet interested in American Idol and has no burning desire to make music his profession.

“He has chosen a different path. He wants to do something different with his life. And I’m happy for him,” Clay said.
