Chukwueze talks about supporting Monza-Milan and Fonseca: ‘He believes in me’

Samuel Chukwueze spoke to the media ahead of AC Milan’s game against Monza this evening, making his second consecutive start.

The Nigerian has certainly bounced back after a difficult start to the season, scoring the winner against Udinese and providing an assist against Club Brugge. As such, Paulo Fonseca rewarded him with a starting place todayafter also performing well in the defeat to Napoli.

Speaking to MilanTV and DAZN before the game, according to MilanNews, Chukwueze spoke about how Milan needed a reaction after the defeat in their last game. He also said that Fonseca gives him a lot of confidence, which is the reason for the recent positive trend.

On his self-confidence…

“It is very important that the coach gives me confidence in the last two games. Tactics are very important, Fonseca always tells me where he wants me on the pitch, whether on the right or more centrally.”

On the reaction after Napoli…

“Yes, we need to recover, we are focused on winning tonight. We are away and this win is very important.”

On the continuity among the starters…

“Fonseca has trust in me, he believes in me. I’m happy about my opportunity and would like to thank the coach for his trust.”

Chukwueze will look to work in a trio with Christian Pulisic and Noah Okafor, just like we saw against Udinese, but also with Morata starting up front.
