Christmas at Biltmore begins as Helene’s estate recovers

The Biltmore Estate announces its reopening plans just in time for the holiday season, just over three weeks after damage from Hurricane Helene.

In a Facebook post on Oct. 19, the Biltmore said the property will reopen on Nov. 2 and will once again welcome guests to celebrate the holidays with Christmas at Biltmore.

Acknowledging the recent devastation in the area, the post said the home has been a “witness to the resilience of this community” for more than 125 years, with the hurricane being no exception.

“Our region’s compassion and resolve have grown every day under the weight of this storm,” Biltmore wrote. “Thanks to the incredible work of so many generous people, recovery is happening all around us.”

In an Oct. 4 press release, the Biltmore Estate shared details of the damage the property sustained during Helene. The release said that while the property sustained damage to several areas, the wooded areas of the 8,000-acre property suffered the most damage as “wind caused extensive damage to the grounds and some buildings.”

The Biltmore said the return of guests to the property is a critical support for the community, and as the property now prepares to open, those interested in visiting can find more information on their website.
