Chris Christie calls on Kamala Harris not to debate Trump again: “Please stop”

Chris Christie agrees with the prevailing opinion that Kamala Harris trounced Donald Trump at Tuesday night’s debate, but that doesn’t mean he thinks she should run against him again. In fact, Christie strongly advised her against it on Wednesday’s episode of “The View.”

By and large, the ABC talk show hosts were delighted with the event. Host Joy Behar even joked that it was “painful to watch” at times because “it was almost like elder abuse.” The women laughed at various absurd claims made by Trump, and guest Christie admitted that he and his wife had done the same.

However, the former governor was not particularly enthusiastic about Harris’ team calling for a second debate with Trump after the event ended.

“Please stop. Don’t do that! Don’t do that,” Christie said. “Really, seriously. You get in the ring against the guy who’s done more presidential debates than anyone in history and you knock him out. Raise your arms, go to two rallies a day, raise some money and go home, man.”

Christie’s logic is that “nothing big can happen for her in a second debate” because “either she’s going to do as well as she did last time, OK, or he could do better.” You can watch the moment in the video above.

Nevertheless, Christie gave the vice president some advice in the event of a second debate.

“She could do some things to help herself. Look, the American people are forgiving and understanding of people,” he said. “So some mistakes were made in the Biden administration. She should admit those and say she’s going to do better.”

“The View” airs weekdays at 11 a.m. ET on ABC.
