Chiefs superfan “ChiefsAholic” sentenced to 17 1/2 years in prison for a series of armed bank robberies

Kansas City Chiefs superfan Xaviar Babudar, better known as “ChiefsAholic,” was sentenced to 17 ½ years in prison without parole in federal court on Thursday for committing 11 armed bank robberies or attempted bank robberies in the United States, the United States Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Missouri announced.

Babudar, who rose to fame by wearing a gray wolf costume at Chiefs games, faces three years of probation after his release, according to multiple reports.

The 30-year-old agreed to a plea deal in federal court in February after admitting to robberies in 2022 and 2023. He stole more than $800,000 and then laundered the money in casinos.

On May 24, 2023, Babudar was charged with bank robbery and transporting stolen property across state lines after being on the run for four months.

Three months later, a grand jury indicted him on three counts of armed bank robbery, one count of bank robbery, 11 counts of money laundering and four counts of transporting stolen property across state lines. Federal prosecutors said Babudar robbed banks and credit unions in Iowa, Tennessee, Nebraska and Oklahoma.

According to court documents, he spent the money on travel, buying Chiefs tickets and betting on games.

According to a federal indictment, Babudar did not report wages earned in the states of Missouri or Kansas.

In exchange for a plea deal, Babudar had more than a dozen charges dropped, and he must repay at least $532,675 to the victims’ financial institutions and surrender all related property, including a signed painting of Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes, to the government.
