Chargers Cardinals Week 7 game recap

The Chargers fell to 3-3 with a 17-15 road loss to the Cardinals on Monday night.

Here are five takeaways from Week 7:

The Chargers suffered a tough loss in prime time Monday night.

And while the Bolts were certainly frustrated in the locker room after the game, they also admitted that the loss also had a lot to do with their own doing.

“We didn’t play a lot of detailed football and you could see that the whole game,” Khalil Mack said.

Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh said: “It was a game with a lot of near misses or close calls…It came down to a lot of details and a lot of things. I don’t limit myself to a single play.”

The play Harbaugh was referring to came with just under two minutes left.

The Chargers, leading 15-14, had Arizona facing second-and-10 at their own 30-yard line.

The Bolts intercepted a pass down the right sideline, but rookie cornerback Cam Hart was cautioned for unnecessary roughness.

“We try not to be surprised by the call, just move on to the next play,” said Derwin James, Jr. “Even if they make the call, we can’t change the call at that moment.

“We were just trying to go to the next play and get a stop, but we didn’t get a stop,” James added. “That flag was devastating, hurt us in some way.”

Mack added: “He just plays hard-nosed football. Even though the call was questionable, I don’t know what you can do when a guy has his head down and you’re trying to make contact so he can’t make it.” play. We stand behind him.”

Harbaugh said, “I saw what I saw, but I have no comment.”

The Cardinals found new life, hitting a 33-yard pass on the ensuing play and later running out the clock before kicking a game-winning field goal.

A few minutes earlier, the Bolts thought they had a chance to tie the game.

But a third-down flag thrown by the officials was caught despite an Arizona defender getting close to wide receiver Simi Fehoko.

Instead of a new string of losses after the 2-minute warning, the Bolts took a one-point lead on a field goal.

“I saw our receiver being held and wrapped up. They made the uncatchable sign,” Harbaugh said. “We had a double move, he got caught. I’ll let them explain how they ran that play.”

The four-minute sequence failed to provide a breakthrough for the Bolts, as the Chargers fell woefully short in Week 7.

The focus now turns to a short week as the Bolts play New Orleans at home on Sunday.

Harbaugh said he wanted the loss to give his team “steel in the spine.”

“You get a (bad) taste in your mouth and you have to suck it up,” Harbaugh said.

He later added, “These are the kind of things you use as fuel and learn from.”

James said: “Frustrating. You don’t want to lose a game, especially because we know how much they count in the end. We’ll look back on this game and I don’t want to just dwell on it… that’s what we need. “We need to win these types of games to position ourselves where we want to be at the end of the season.

Justin Herbert added: “There is a lot to improve and we are looking forward to this week’s challenge.”
