Channing Dungey is promoted to President of Television Networks at Warner Bros.

In a major leadership shakeup at Warner Bros. Discovery, Channing Dungey will assume control of the company’s U.S. television networks later this year as current U.S. Networks Chairman and CEO Kathleen Finch retires.

Dungey is currently CEO of Warner Bros. TV Group.

“No one is better at developing compelling content, compelling talent and meaningful lifestyle brands than Kathleen, who was my partner as we built our world-class entertainment networks at Discovery and built Warner Bros. Discovery into an unwritten powerhouse. While I understand her long-standing decision to retire, I will certainly miss her, as will the entire company, which has benefited from her unmatched collaboration and unique understanding of our audiences’ desires,” WBD CEO David Zaslav said in a statement. “Channing is an unparalleled creative executive who has overseen countless award-winning hit shows. She has the ideal expertise and experience – as a content developer, platform programmer and network executive – to lead the U.S. networks.”

“It has been an honor to spend the last 25 years at Scripps, Discovery and now Warner Bros. Discovery. I began my journey at the fledgling Food Network and am so proud to have helped build it into a cable powerhouse, and then to lead the team that developed some of the most addictive unscripted franchises for HGTV and TLC, turning chefs and house flippers into household names and capturing the cultural dialogue with true stories,” said Finch. “The greatest joy and the part I will miss most are the incredible people I get to work with every day. Starting with David and through the entire organization and of course all the amazing on-air talent, this is one of the smartest and most creative groups you could imagine. I am so proud of what the US Networks group has accomplished together and I know there is much more to come under Channing’s leadership.”
