Brad Pitt’s new Apple TV film criticized for “absurd” budget that “makes no financial sense”

Brad Pitt’s latest action comedy, “Wolfs,” has been criticized by some Apple TV+ users who cannot justify the project’s inflated budget.

Two of the biggest names in Hollywood—Brad Pitt and George Clooney—will star in “Wolfs,” one of the most highly anticipated new films of 2024.

Since the film features some of Hollywood’s most famous actors, it’s no surprise that the budget is on the higher end of the scale.

However, some users have a problem with the money breakdown, as the New York Times reported that Wolfs spent $35 million on stars Clooney and Brad Pitt individually, while paying Spider-Man: No Way Home director Jon Watts only $15 million.

“This just doesn’t make financial sense,” posted one user on X/Twitter, while another commented, “The entire crew (including catering) probably didn’t even make $1 million combined.”

And a third viewer wrote: “This is an unsustainable expense from Apple that is clearly being made for tax reasons at this point.”

Apple TV+ offers better TV shows than Netflix, the streaming service seems to be losing the war of online platforms. This is because Apple TV+ is spending more on its titles that don’t bring in much of profit.

Pitt and Clooney’s salaries may seem astronomical, but they’re quite normal. Apple TV+ spent $50 million just to cast its dramedy series The Morning Show.

This type of spending is one of the reasons why the streaming service is cutting its content budgets to compete with its main rival, Netflix.

Currently, Apple TV+ accounts for just 0.2% of TV viewership in the US, while Netflix holds steady at 8%, making the streaming war incredibly unbalanced.
