Boulter Fire breaks out near Tooele-Juab County border on Saturday; evacuations ordered

UPDATE (5:50 p.m.) — Evacuations have been ordered for the Five Mile Pass recreation area.

Sergeant Spencer Cannon of the Utah County Sheriff’s Office told KSL that officers from his agency had been asked to help evacuate the area.

Cannon said there are a lot of campers in the area.

According to the Tooele County Sheriff’s Office, evacuations were in place on Leo Lane and Faust Road in Tooele County.

UPDATE (5:45 p.m.) Utah Fire Info reported that a wind shift from the west is now driving the fire toward the Tintic Mountain Range.

State Route 36 was closed in both directions at mile marker 9, about 3 miles from the county line.

The Northern Utah Type 3 Incident Management Team was requested.

UPDATE (4:30 p.m.) Utah Fire Info estimates the fire has spread to 1,000 acres.

“But due to the irregular winds, it is difficult to determine the exact area size,” the agency wrote on Facebook.

According to the post, bulldozers are being used to create the firebreak, which is about seven miles from 5 Mile Pass and is spreading rapidly.

Local, state and federal resources are on site.
