Body of suspected missing woman from Kings Beach discovered near Mt. Rose Highway, police say

The body of a missing Kings Beach woman was presumed discovered by authorities Thursday morning, the Placer County Sheriff’s Office said.

On Thursday, police found a body near Mount Rose Highway. It is believed to be 48-year-old Patricia Portella-Wright, who was reported missing on August 9. According to the Placer County Sheriff’s Office, authorities are still awaiting confirmation.

The California woman was believed to be with her boyfriend, Brent Clifford, a person of interest in a murder investigation in northwest Reno.

According to Reno police, Clifford, 55, also of Kings Beach, traveled to Reno from the Tahoe area on Aug. 9 to visit a friend. RPD investigators identified that friend as William F. Andrews, 68, of Reno, who was found dead Sunday in a residence in the 1300 block of Keystone Avenue. He suffered a gunshot wound to the head, police said.

The investigation revealed that Clifford fled in Andrew’s red 2003 Chevrolet Blazer, which was last seen heading west on Highway 70 in California.

Clifford was arrested on a warrant in Portola, California, on Wednesday afternoon, authorities said, but Portella-Wright has not been located. On Thursday, Clifford was booked into the Placer County Jail on murder charges, the sheriff’s office said.
