Black Door Society and Women Elevating Women join forces to support female entrepreneurs

BALTIMORE – Two local organizations, the Black Door Society and Women Elevating Women, have joined forces to help women entrepreneurs with the difficulties they say come with running a business.

Black Door Society works with startups, while Women Elevating Women works with six-figure entrepreneurs. Together, they bridge that gap and help other women succeed.

Joint efforts are needed to reduce barriers for female entrepreneurs.

“We believe that women can grow much faster when they support each other than if they try to do it alone,” says Betty Hines, founder and CEO of Women Elevating Women.

“We don’t have those strategic connections. So it’s absolutely about access to capital, and that’s out there. So we want to make sure they have the right resources, the opportunities, the connections. For black women, that’s a huge struggle,” Hines says.

“We just take a cue from the good old boys and don’t make deals on golf courses, but on manicures and pedicures and, you know, brunch and lunch,” Hines says.
