General Election 2024 Results LIVE UPDATES: The ruling BJP has crossed the halfway mark of 45 in the Haryana assembly polls and is now leading in 48 seats, while the Congress was ahead in 33, according to the latest trends on the Election Commission website. After the counting of votes began at 8 a.m., the two parties fought a fierce battle in the state. The initial trends seen on television channels showed that the Congress was ahead of the BJP, but the verdict made a lot of headway later. As per EC trends available at 10.20 am, the BJP was leading in 48 seats and the Congress in 34. The majority mark for the 90-member Assembly is 46. According to EC, there are 14 such seats where the gap between the Congress and the Congress is ahead and BJP has less than 1000 votes.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which has launched a strong campaign in the state under the leadership of former Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, is also hoping to open its account in the state and expand its presence beyond Delhi and Punjab. Regional powers such as the Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) and Om Prakash Chautala’s Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) may not have much success, according to election polls. As for Jammu and Kashmir, where elections were held for the first time since the abrogation of Article 370, exit polls have shown the Congress-National Conference ahead but may not get a clear majority in the 90-member assembly. The BJP, which is hoping to capture the Jammu region, wants to get support from independent candidates and several smaller parties in the Valley to form a government and keep the Congress-NC alliance in check.
