Big Ten rival Ohio State Buckeyes announces massive roster change

The Michigan Wolverines have had a rather unfortunate start to 2024 and one of their biggest problems has been quarterback play.

For this reason, Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore has announced a change at the center position: Alex Orji will replace Davis Warren, who was previously employed by Brad Galli of WXYZ Detroit.

Warren completed 11 of 14 passes for 122 yards and three interceptions in the Wolverines’ win over Arkansas State last Saturday. For the season as a whole, he has rushed for 444 yards, two touchdowns and six interceptions in three games.

The 22-year-old arrived in Ann Arbor in 2022 and served as a backup to JJ McCarthy for the first two years of his college career. Before this season, Warren had thrown a total of 14 passes.

Obviously, the post-McCarthy era is not quite over yet, and Moore is wasting no time making a change before the Wolverines begin Big Ten Conference play.

Orji also joined Michigan in 2022 and was used primarily as a runner. He rushed for 181 yards and three touchdowns in the first three years of his NCAA career. This season, he has carried the ball 10 times for 58 yards.

The Wolverines are 2-1 so far. They opened the 2024 season with a win over the Fresno State Bulldogs before being crushed by the Texas Longhorns in Week 2.

Michigan managed to earn a win over Arkansas State, but it was not entirely convincing as the Wolverines won 28-18.

Michigan will face the USC Trojans this Saturday.

Meanwhile, the Ohio State Buckeyes will face the Wolverines on November 30. Their goal is to end a three-game losing streak against their archrival.
