Big energy: Is this Kamala Harris’ secret weapon? | Kamala Harris

Name: Great energy.

Age: Evergreen.

Look: Small but mighty.

How small are we talking about? As tall as Kamala Harris.

That’s about 5 feet 8 inches? Maybe 1.75 m? Harris is 1.63 m tall.

Really? Yes, but see how you assumed she was taller? That’s because Kamala Harris has great energy. She’s a woman with such presence that people naturally assume she’s taller than she really is.

Does such a thing really exist? That’s right. The New York Times just wrote about it, calling tall energy “a vertical state of being that is more commonly associated with statuesqueness but is sometimes embraced by petite women.”

But what is it? This is partly about confidence, but it is also about presenting yourself as a competent, confident person and exuding an aura that makes others feel protected.

OKthe Large So energy? According to the New York Times, Lady Gaga, at 5’1″ tall, has what it takes. Then there’s Reese Witherspoon at 5’2″ and Kristin Chenoweth (The West Wing, Glee) at 5’2″. Tom Cruise (5’7″) is bursting with tall energy.

I thought he only seemed tall because he stands on boxes in his movies. Well, apparently that too. But he’s also Tom Cruise. The man is a giant.

Has Harris’ status ever been discussed? That’s true. During an interview with journalist and host Katie Couric in January, Couric cited a Wikipedia entry that falsely claimed Harris was 5’2″. “That is absolutely false,” Harris said. “With high heels, which I always wear, I’m 5’7, thank you very much.”

Good answer! Are high energy people used to being underestimated? Oh yeah. Before this week’s presidential debate, Donald Trump made a big deal about not allowing Harris to artificially boost her standing on television, telling his supporters at Truth Social, “During my upcoming debate with Comrade Kamala Harris, there will be no standing on boxes or artificial lifts allowed.” (Harris has not commented on whether she requested any kind of lift.)

Why didn’t Trump want her to get in an elevator? Because he is tall (6’3″) and she is short and he probably thought the audience would be impressed by his physical superiority.

Did this happen? No. By and large, Harris filled the room with her presence, while Trump looked like…

A loud, clattering robot runs out of power? No, it is not.

One of those inflatable dancing men you see in front of car dealerships, except the fan keeps breaking down and the showroom is on fire? Yes, sure, that’s enough.

So it is almost as if the height has nothing to do with it. That’s true. Anyone can have great energy as long as they behave confidently – pull their shoulders back, stand up straight and push their sternum forward.

Say: “I may be small, but I have big energy.”

Do not say: “Could you please get me something from the top shelf?”
