If you look at FanDuel Sportsbook’s NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series odds for Richmond, they nearly mirror the results from a few weeks ago at IRP.

Ty Majeski was clearly the fastest truck and won; with +165 he is the favorite.

Christian Eckes in second place? He is +300.

This makes sense since both IRP and Richmond are short, flat tracks with a lot of tire wear, but I think it’s going a bit too far to hype Majeski up based on one race.

Below you can see how my simulations assess the pre-training and qualifying schedule. And as you can see, I’m much more optimistic about Eckes.

NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Betting Tips for Richmond

• Christian Eckes (+300): Although Majeski won IRP, Eckes has been more consistently fast on the short tracks, winning both Bristol and Martinsville this year and the Phoenix Championship Race last year. My model gives him a 30.9% chance of winning, compared to the implied 25.0%.
• Tyler Ankrum (+3000): Eckes’ teammate Ankrum finished fourth at IRP with an average running position of seventh. He was also in the top five at Bristol and Martinsville. He’s well above his implied odds, with me putting him at 5.6% versus the market’s 3.2%.
• Nick Sanchez (+2800): Of the three, I’m the least optimistic about Sanchez. However, he’s a full percentage point above his implied odds (4.4% vs. 3.4%), and his average running position of sixth at Martinsville shows he can handle a short, flat track.
