Baylor defeats McCallie in Division II-AAA regional play

Call it a statement game.

Maybe just call it a router.

Top-ranked Baylor dismantled Chattanooga rival McCallie with a 44-12 win Friday night in a showdown of the state’s top two teams.

David Gabriel Georges scored three touchdowns in Baylor’s win. Georges, a 5-foot-11, 190-pound sophomore, scored on Baylor’s second offensive play of the night when he broke free for a 51-yard TD run 43 seconds into the game. He added a short TD run to make it 13-0 with 9:54 left in the second quarter. George’s also had a 69-yard TD run.

Georges, who has offers from Tennessee, Ohio State, Auburn, Ole Miss, Oregon and others, finished with 18 carries for 254 yards.

Baylor led 27-0 at halftime before the Blue Tornado scored to open the second half. Vanderbilt commit Carson Lawrence capped the drive with a 3-yard TD catch.

Baylor (7-0, 3-0 Division II-AAA East Region) and McCallie (5-2, 2-1) entered the game as the top two teams in Division II-AAA and first in the USA Today Network national rankings and second in the Tennessee High School Football Super 25 rankings.

The game was a rematch of last year’s DII-AAA state championship game, which McCallie won.
