BART service in East Bay halted during Friday night commuter traffic

OAKLAND – Three BART stations in Oakland were closed around 9:40 p.m. Friday due to an equipment problem on the tracks, the transit agency said.

The closed stations are MacArthur, 19th Street Oakland and 12th Street Oakland City Center, BART said on social media.

The closures followed the announcement of significant system-wide delays.

BART service has been suspended between Ashby, West Oakland, Rockridge and Lake Merritt stations, the transit agency said.

According to the transit agency, AC Transit provided assistance with buses No. 62, No. 14 and No. 18 to serve the West Oakland, 12th Street, Lake Merritt and Fruitvale stations. Bus No. 72 served 12th Street and 19th Street and the MacArthur station. The Rockridge station was served by buses No. 51B and Ashby No. F.
