Avalanche Game 9 vs Ottawa Senators, lines, notes and how to watch

The Colorado Avalanche (4-4-0) are back home for the first of three games in four nights at Ball Arena. They host the Ottawa Senators (4-3-0) and look to extend their winning streak to five games. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. MT.

The Sens suffered a tough 6-4 loss to the Golden Knights in Vegas. They led 4-3 at the start of the third period, but conceded the decisive goal within 60 seconds and the eventual winner with less than four minutes left in regulation time. Goalkeeper Linus Ullmark, who could be back in the starting line-up on Sunday, was to blame for Friday’s collapse towards the end of the third period.

“If they had had a skilled goalie today, I would say they would have won 4-3,” Ullmark told reporters after the loss to Vegas. “It’s way too sloppy to play in this league. This is the kind of game where you have to rely on the goalkeeper to close the door. Letting those two in at the end resulted in us losing the game. I take it upon myself, I don’t blame anyone, it’s my job to save when needed.”

Ottawa is hoping for a big rebound and Colorado will have to do its best to stop the Sens. Head coach Jared Bednar said after the morning skate that discipline will be key for the Avs, who return home after a perfect 3-0 win. 0-0 road trip. Justus Annunen has been confirmed as the starter and will make his fourth consecutive appearance between the pipes.
