A persistent low pressure system continues to swirl over the Great Lakes, but will soon dissipate. By the start of the week, the high pressure system will return and weather conditions will improve significantly.

Scattered rain and thunderstorms are possible tonight, but things will calm down after sunset. Clouds will remain overnight in many places. Lows will be around 18 degrees, with highs of over 13 degrees in the Northwoods.

Conditions will improve on Sunday and it will become increasingly sunny as time goes on. I can’t completely rule out a few isolated showers, but it won’t be like the last few days. Expect highs between 21 and 27 degrees. Northerly winds between 16 and 32 km/h are expected.

Monday through Wednesday, highs of around 21 degrees, lows of around 10 degrees, and clear skies should be the norm. Increased wildfire smoke may move through the region from time to time, so skies may be somewhat hazy. The majority of this should remain above ground level.

Southerly winds later in the week and next weekend will bring warm and humid air. Temperatures will again be above 25 degrees. The chance of occasional rain is also back.
