If you have a sister, you know how tough the competition in that relationship can sometimes be.

A woman recently had to interrupt her sister’s speech at her wedding because she didn’t want her sister to announce her pregnancy and thus steal the attention from her.

She is 28 and married her beloved fiancé this summer. Although everything was going well between her and her new husband, her sister caused some drama.

Her sister Emily is 31 and the two have always been very close, but sometimes they can be quite competitive. She believes this is because Emily usually goes out of her way to get everyone’s attention, even on other people’s special days, like weddings.

A few days before her wedding, Emily announced that she was pregnant.

“I was so happy for her and congratulated her immediately, but then she asked if she could announce her pregnancy at my wedding reception,” she recalls.

“She said it would be the perfect time because all our family and friends would be there and it would be such a happy surprise on top of the wedding.”

She was very happy for Emily and tried to politely cancel. She couldn’t announce her pregnancy because the day should be focused on her and her fiancé and no one else.

Emily quickly got upset and told her she was selfish and her pregnancy was a big deal too. As a compromise, she suggested Emily announce it the day after her wedding when her friends and family were still in one place.
