Arsenal Women announce 29-man squad for USA tour

Arsenal have announced a 29-man squad that will train in the US and play two matches.

They kick off with a match against Washington Spirit at Audi Field Stadium on Sunday, August 18 (2 p.m. local time), before facing Chelsea at the same venue the following Sunday (4 p.m. local time).

The squad is composed as follows:

The only player not to travel is pregnant Amanda Ilestedt. Victoria Pelova, who has a cruciate ligament injury, is traveling, which makes sense since rehab with the team is a better option than rehab alone at London Colney.

Arsenal also announced that Emily Fox, Mariona Caldentey and Laia Codina will join the squad at a later date due to their international commitments, meaning 25 players will be available for the first game against Washington Spirit.

Once the last Olympic players return, the roster will include 28 players, three more than the 25-player roster for the WSL.

Taking into account that Reid, Harbert, Earl and Lia are U21 academy players without professional contracts, the current squad consists of 24 players, leaving one place open.

With rumours circulating that Agyemang and Godfrey will be loaned out like Teyah Goldie, the squad could potentially shrink to 22 players, leaving three spots free for new signings.

With the first Champions League qualifier in 19 days, the touring team will have to work hard and prepare well to hit the ground running on September 4, win two games and qualify for the 2nd round of the Champions League.
