Armie Hammer has to switch to his truck because he can’t afford gas

Armie Hammer can no longer afford to fill up his truck.

The 38-year-old actor took to social media on Tuesday (August 27, 2024) to share a lengthy video shot in a CarMax parking lot in which he explained his decision to part with his beloved car.

Hammer, who reportedly lived in the Cayman Islands following his divorce from Elizabeth Chambers in June 2023, said: “I have a new car, it’s tiny, it’s a hybrid, I’ll probably spend about ten dollars a month on gas.”

“I’ve been back in LA for a couple of weeks now. This is my truck. I bought it for myself as a Christmas present in 2017. I’ve loved this truck very much and have taken it camping and cross country and on long road trips several times and I took it on one last road trip… to CarMax,” Armie said in the video.

“This isn’t an ad for CarMax. I’m selling my truck. Since I got back to LA, I’ve put $400 or $500 worth of gas on it and I can’t afford it anymore. I can’t afford the gas anymore. I mean, this truck, it brought the kids home from the hospital and all that stuff. Great trips, but you know what, that’s OK. I have a new car. It’s tiny. It’s a hybrid. I’ll probably put about $10 a month on it and that’s it.”

“Here’s to a fresh start. Tomorrow is my birthday, so I’ll be starting August 28th in a new car, new apartment, and new life in Los Angeles,” Armie added.

While talking to his car, he said, “Thank you so much. You’ve brought me a long way and I appreciate it all. I hope you take just as good care of the next person.”

He concluded, “I just keep telling myself that parking will be easier and gas will be cheaper.”
