Ariana Grande responds to Cynthia Erivo’s criticism of “evil” memes

Ariana Grande comments on this Evil Memes after Cynthia Erivo called certain AI-generated videos and fan-made edits “offensive” and “deeply hurtful.”

To edit my face and hide my eyes is to erase me.”

Erivo went on to say that the altered poster was “on par with this horrible AI of us fighting” – referencing a viral AI-generated video depicting a fight between the Emmy winner and “So, what?” animated. “None of this is funny,” she added. “None of this is sweet. It humiliates me. It demeans us.”

The premiere of the first of two Evil Movies is scheduled for November 22nd, with Erivo as Elphaba and Grande as Glinda. Directed by Jon M. Chu, the duology also stars Michelle Yeoh, Jonathan Bailey, Jeff Goldblum, Ethan Slater and Bowen Yang.

The project’s soundtrack – also out November 22nd – will feature Erivo and Grande’s live on-set vocals.
