Anti-Israel demonstrations continue for third night near DNC

Hundreds of anti-Israel demonstrations took place in Chicago for the third night in a row, while the Democratic National Convention (DNC) was taking place just a few miles away at the United Center.

Protesters, many dressed in Palestine scarves, gathered in significantly larger numbers than on Tuesday and marched down Maypole Avenue along Park 578, waving flags and banners, including a huge one reading “Biden, Harris, you will see! Palestine will be free!”, “End US aid to Israel” and “Stop the genocide.”

A leader of the march shouted into a megaphone, “DNC, your hands are red!” and the crowd shouted back.

Fox News’ Paul Mauro, who was on the scene, described the early evening demonstrations as “peaceful but very boisterous.”

“Definitely the biggest we’ve ever seen. In fact, it’s so big that three separate megaphones can be heard over a distance of about three or four city blocks, so probably about half a mile,” Mauro said.

Later, police ordered protesters to return to Union Park, where the demonstration had begun. Officers were well organized, blocking off the march route with bicycle units and riot police. As the sun set, the crowd began to disperse, although some protesters remained.

The demonstrations took place just a few miles from the United Center, where former President Clinton, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg were scheduled to speak on Wednesday.
