Another WR from Georgia was arrested and charged with assault and battery on an unborn child

Another well-known Georgia football player is in trouble with the law.

Dawgs247 was first to report Tuesday that wide receiver Colbie Young was arrested in Athens on charges of assault and battery on an unborn child.

Other media outlets have confirmed the charges, which are the latest to tarnish a program that has otherwise consistently been successful in practice.

Young, a transfer from Miami, has played in all five games this season, catching 11 passes for 149 yards and 2 touchdowns.

The charges reportedly stem from a confrontation between Young and his ex-girlfriend in which he allegedly “picked her up and began squeezing her torso and stomach very hard.”

“This is a pending legal matter, we will have no further comment at this time,” Georgia athletic department spokesman Steven Drummond told ESPN.

Young is the third Georgia wide receiver to face criminal charges this year.

Rara Thomas was fired from the team in July after allegations of child cruelty and family violence.

Young is the second Georgia player arrested during the 2024 season. Cornerback Daniel Harris was arrested on Sept. 12 for driving offenses, including reckless driving.

According to Dawgs247, a total of seven players have been arrested in Georgia since January.

Other defendants include running back Trevor Etienne (DUI, reckless driving), wide receiver Sacovie White (reckless driving), linebacker Smael Mondon (reckless driving) and offensive tackle Bo Hughley (reckless driving).
