Anduril will take a “Tesla-like approach” to US defense technology

Anduril Industries plans to build a new factory to increase weapons production for the U.S. defense base. Trae Stephens, co-founder and CEO of Anduril Industries, talks to Market Domination Overtime about this initiative.

Stephens explains that the traditional defense industry has traditionally focused on “really high-end, expensive, exquisite defense platforms” such as fighter jets, bombers and aircraft carriers. However, he notes that warfare is evolving and “these are no longer what works in conflict.” With global geopolitical tensions escalating, Stephens is seeing “a rise in low-cost, highly autonomous systems,” but supply is struggling to meet demand.

The planned factory, called Arsenal One, will take “a Tesla-like manufacturing approach” to ensure it can meet the demands “that the warfighters are putting on us.” This approach suggests a focus on innovation, efficiency and scalability in manufacturing, Stephens explains.

“At Anduril, we are taking the risk up front to build the capacity and the infrastructure we need to deploy that capacity very quickly,” Stephens, also a partner at Founders Fund, told Yahoo Finance. He added that the company is currently in the process of finding a site to build that factory.
