Amitabh Bachchan says his ‘reason’ for continuing to work at 81 is that ‘everything is shuttered and locked’; asks: ‘Do you have a problem with that?’

Amitabh Bachchan has said it once and for all for the people who keep asking him why he is still working at 81. The veteran star, who has been in showbiz for 55 years, recently penned a lengthy blog addressing those who are dying to know why he is employed. Big B began his blog by saying that he has no particular answer to the question other than the fact that “it is another job opportunity for me… what else could be the reason?”

The veteran actor further claimed that others may have their own assessment of the opportunities and conditions under which one should or should not work. Senior Bachchan then advised them to put themselves in his shoes and find out whether their opinion is right or wrong. “You have the freedom to draw your conclusions and I have the freedom of my work,” said Big B.

Amitabh Bachchan didn’t stop there and added more words to his cryptic post. He acknowledged that his reasoning may not agree with many but he has heard what people have to say because everyone has the right to speak up. The Agneepath actor added, “You said I heard I have reasons for working on… this is me… the reasons I have are mine… locked and closed.”

Bachchan Sahab also said that the “emptiness” of some people forces them to build their sandcastles and enjoy the process of making them (many of which collapse). In his closing remarks, Big B added, “May you who build them find some level of permanence… if it was built for you and your business… mine is finished and standing still – I AM WORKING… PERIOD… do you have a problem with that? So… get to work and find out.”

Amitabh Bachchan, apart from his typical quips, also posted a few pictures from the sets of his game show Kaun Banega Crorepati 16. He wished his fans to immerse themselves in the divine season of the upcoming Ganpati Mahotsav and in fact, he was also seen in traditional attire in the pictures he shared.

On the professional front, Bachchan was last seen playing the immortal Ashwatthama in Kalki 2898 AD and will next be seen in Rajinikanth’s Vettaiyan, his Tamil film debut.
